Nutmeg

NutmegNutmeg is native to the BandaIslands in the Moluccas. It is the dried fruit of a 30-foot tropical tree, covered by a lacy skin which, when dried is called mace, with a similar flavour.

Nutmeg has a nutty, warm and slightly sweet flavour. It’s colour is the same as the seed kernel inside the fruit of the nutmeg tree. Nutmeg’s aroma is sweet and citrussy

Nutmeg is ideal with pasta, tomato and cheese sauces, potatoes, puddings, fruit, biscuits & cakes. Preferably add towards the end of cooking time for the best flavour.

Nutmeg is often used in rich food like egg noggs.
